"Strengthening Food Sovereignty through Agro-ecological Agriculture" Rural population of Southern and Northern part of the country are rejoicing because of different projects of irrigation of their fields. They are nowadays grouped in different small scale farmers’ cooperatives Yam is disappearing on Burundian ground. In order to promote and preserve it, small scale farmers from Bubanza Province are expanding it their communities. In previous decades, farmers have experienced difficulties in their maize’s fields. Insects have attacked crops in different provinces of Cibitoke, Bubanza, Rumonge, and Makamba. ESAFF Burundi is working to sensitize farmers on Eco-friendly Organic Farming Management (Nutrient Management): weed, pest and disease control by using local resources to help farmers to get out of this issue. Cassava is among principal food crops in Burundi. ESAFF Burundi is seeking a partnership with the National Institute of agriculture in Burundi (ISABU), to build capacity in farming techniques and provide selected cuttings to small scale farmers to increase the productivity. The provinces of Makamba, Kayanza, Bubanza and Cibitoke will be targeted by the interventions.
